Words, Words, Words.

It's been another exciting week of vagaries. And I feel like i'm going to speak to you in vagueries. When the unexpected becomes expected and the uncommon becomes common, there is both a satisfaction and disappointment. This week has taken my mind to places unimagined, yet now I've imagined them.

Ummm, what the heck are you talking about Greg? lololol. I'm laughing at myself as I write this. I'm not trying to be cryptic but am weirdly feeling poetic this morning. Not in a rhyming way, but in a symbolic, emotional and verbally visual way. Accessing morsels of the soul requires more than a literal expression.

As a matter of fact, I've been contemplating words an enormous amount this week. I love words. I use too many of them. But they are one of my favorite things in life. To arrange, then rearrange, then replace or substitute and experiment some more, gives feelings, ideas, and experiences an amplified meaning.

What I've found is I can take one idea and generate words about it, that explore it from all sides. Articulating an opposing view from what I originally start with, interestingly expands my compassion, gratitude or conviction. Over the last 6 years, I've worked hard to hold two different view points at the same time. Only we humans can do that. Most of us don't. We latch onto one and grip it tight.

WORDS

I'm in the business of "thought leadership." I hear a lot of my colleagues - professional speakers and coaches - offer "thought familiarity." And they get more opportunities and more money than I do. Dang it! 😆 I know there is nothing new under the sun. But our life experiences give you and me a wholly unique perspective that when captured in words, offers freedom and hope to others.

I mean, here I am every Saturday morning, wrestling with myself to find words that embody some sort of truth, wisdom, insight, humor, or enlightenment. Which first gives me a glimpse into my own life and then hopefully propagates an idea that nestles in your heart or mind to challenge, encourage and spur you on to your divine calling. Words do that!

MINDSHIFT

What if this week you used words to expand your own thinking as well as used them to intentionally benefit others?

HOLLOW

What also is entirely true is that words are hollow. They mean literally nothing, unless backed up with actions. How weird is that? They are these sacred containers of life as well as linguistic vaporware. I suspect that's why "communication" is the greatest challenge at home and at work. We speak the same language, but the merit of our words exist on a sliding scale of meaning, intent and truthfulness.

Words, Words, Words

Do they change lives or

Do lives change them?

True, real, sincere or

False, partial, empty?

Both form lasting impact and

Both reveal reality.

Words, Words, Words.

MINDSHIFT

What if this week you committed to be a better communicator? Where would you start and what would you change?

MIND

We live in our minds. You and I are consistently in an ongoing conversation with ourselves. As I've mentioned before, the danger in that is that we can lie to ourselves, believe it wholeheartedly and then act accordingly. I have loads of experience with that. Of course the obvious solution is sharing those internal dialogues with another human. Unfortunately, this is one of the hardest things for a person to do in life.

Vulnerability and transparency are the fastest path to our own personal freedom, yet our ego and self-preservation prohibit such a daring act of humility.

Look at this. I started writing with no idea what to even talk about and here we are at the end already. Words lead to ideas that lead to more words. I'm incredibly grateful you choose to read mine. I genuinely hope the words you use on and about yourself are kind and generous, as well as true and direct. If you're not entirely sure, share them with someone else for an outside perspective.

SHIFTING

I hope these words I've given you today prompt you to honorable actions that strengthen your soul and benefit someone else. #ShiftAway
